Adzom Gyalse Tulku October 7-8, 2014 Register

adzom_gyalseAdzom Gyalse, ritual leader at Shechen Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal will teach on the Four Boundless States, reading from a previously untranslated text by Adzom Drupka.

Adzom Gyalse Tulku, born in 1980, is the reincarnation of Adzom Gyalse Gyurme Dorje, and has received initiations, transmissions and empowerments from his root teacher HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and others, including HH the Dalai Lama.  He was awarded the Scarf of Khenpo (Doctoral certificate) after nine years of study at Shechen Philosophical College in Nepal where he now presides over all annual ceremonies.  This is Adzom Gyalse’s first visit to the west, and Dawn Mountain is pleased and honored to welcome him to Houston.

The price for this special two-evening guest teaching is $50/$40/$30 (*$35/$25/$15 for members.)
*Tuesday, October 7 is a regularly scheduled Teaching Tuesday, part of the fall series on Embodied Love and Compassion.

Dawn Mountain now charges for most retreats and programs on a sliding scale, recognizing the wide variation in individuals’ fiscal capabilities.  Those with greater ability are encouraged to contribute at the higher levels, helping to support and extend Dawn Mountain’s teachings.  As always, no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Kind Mind, Happy Life – a course at Dawn Mountain for children ages 4-8 Register

children's programIn these six one-hour sessions children will learn simple techniques to help navigate stressful situations and cultivate an understanding of their own experiences. The program seeks to provide children with mindfulness and related life skills to carry them into whatever their future holds, promoting Dawn Mountain’s core values of kindness to self and others and a recognition that we are all connected.   While young ones are in class, parents are invited to attend Dawn Mountain’s regular Sunday morning meditation session, led by advanced students and senior members of our community.

children's programInstructor and Dawn Mountain young people’s program coordinator Simone Woodage is mother of three boys and a long-time youth and family educator in the Houston Area.  She recently completed Inner Kids Professional trainingwith Susan Kaiser Greenland, author of The Mindful Child: How to Help Your Child Cope With Stress and Become Happier, Kinder and More Compassionate.

GreenTaraThe Lunar 25th of each month is dedicated to the enlightened wisdom of the Dakinis.  We celebrate this Dakini day with Dawn Mountain teachers and students (mainly from the Vajra and Nyingthig groups) who attended Lama Tenzin’s teachings on Creation Phase practice last year.

Anne and Harvey will review those teachings and connect them with our Green Tara chants in preparation for group Green Tara practice, including Tshog Feast (bring healthy vegetarian food to share!)

Students who have previously studied Green Tara with Anne are welcome to attend!

tulku_jigmeTulku Jigme Norbu, the leader of Shedrup Dojo Ling Monastery and the grandson and Dharma heir to Khetsun Sangpo Rinpoche, (late guiding teacher of Dawn Mountain), will teach on love and compassion from the Treasury of Precious Qualities by the great 18th century religious visionary Jigme Lingpa, with commentary from Kangyur Rinpoche, Tulku Jigme’s previous birth.

Tulku Jigme Norbu Rinpoche was born in 1983 and recognized at six months of age as a reincarnation of Longchen Yeshe Dorge, known as Kangyur Rinpoche.  The reincarnation was independently confirmed by four rinpoches including His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Tulku Jigme has received many life long initiations and transmissions, and studied at Tibetan Children’s Village in Dharmasala, India; Namdroling Monastery in South India and Shedrup Dojo Ling, where he began his teaching career at the age of 22.
